Summary:The Chief Communications Officer for this non-profit organization is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of cohesive and integrated external and internal Communications’ strategies, programs and tactics/content for the Organization’s Movement. This person will play a significant role in managing the organization’s brand image and reputation among key stakeholders for the organization and in partnership with local councils, as well as aligning with brand marketing efforts. Responsibilities include: • Oversees the development and alignment of corporate messaging architecture, competitive positioning, and corporate image by driving campaigns across external facing traditional and non-traditional channels (eg. events, press, social and digital networks, etc.) • Leads cross-functional efforts to create and implement innovative workplace communications strategies that inform and motivate the organization, Council staff, National Board members and other internal stakeholders, as well as support our culture objectives. • Partners with departments or communities to support strategic initiatives with cross platform and integrated communications efforts (eg print, digital social, broadcast, etc.) that meet priority objectives. • Creates the annual budgets and strategic goals for the department, and ensures that the appropriate integration occurs among the departments. • Oversees the development of local strategies and communications tools (eg videos, Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and printed materials, etc.) (Collaborates with senior leadership and communities as appropriate to ensure that our communications needs and goals are being met. Travel approximately 30% of the time.

Responsibilities:MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Works with the Chief Marketing Officer on developing, executing and aligning strategic communications plans with marketing strategy/plans. 2. Develops, manages and implements the annual plan and budget for the Communications department – External, Internal, Social Media and Editorial teams, to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the department and that goals are met, 3. Oversees the communications strategy and plan in support of the National CEO, National Board Chair and executive leadership as appropriate to ensure they are informed and leveraged as brand ambassadors. 4. Oversees development of speeches, messaging, and articles for the National \ Chief Executive Officer, senior level staff and National Board members. Drive message development, pitch and announcement strategies. 5. Promotes and contributes toward the organization’s goals of enhancing organizational diversity and organization culture objectives. 6. Manage and cultivate relationships with the media and external partners to maximize communications opportunities. 7. Acts as an official spokesperson and drives crises communications strategies and plans. DIMENSIONS Operating Budget: $3 - 5 million Staff Supervised: 12 exempt; 3 nonexempt Employees Served: 360 National Staff

Requirements:SKILLS 1. Minimum 15+ years’ experience in integrated corporate and external facing Communications/Public Relations, crisis communications and/or Marketing with broad business background and strategies. 2. Cultivated media relationships and partnerships in the girl/woman , youth advocacy and/or non-profit space 3. 5 years’ experience on a strategic marketing level or external communications managing 15 -20 person team. 4. Proven management experience and supervisory responsibilities including budget process, strategic and tactical planning, performance management, coaching and project management 5. Proven training and facilitation skills 6. Strong understanding of communication principles and industry trends 7. Demonstrated problem solving skills and proven ability to take calculated risks and find innovative solutions 8. Demonstrated hands on experience with the ability to multitask, handle pressure and meet deadlines 9. Excellent written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills 10. High level Microsoft Office Suite skills (including Project Manager) required. 11. Strategic thinker, highly organized, detail-oriented, with a collaborative work style and detail oriented 12. Visionary, able to think strategically and provide feedback on trends to move the organization forward 13. Travel approximately 30% of the time 14. Bi-lingual a plus EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related area, or equivalent relevant experience
